Immigrant Body: in translation
Immigrant Body: in translation gathered people from all over the world, who immigrated to the United States to share their stories of immigration and through outreach programs and installations giving voice to an American community in transition. These conversations were used as point of reference and departure to create the work.
The installation included printed portraits of participants, family photographs, and translations of conversations about their first day away from home. The installation was a hand-pulled, 6-color wallpaper that surrounded a table with postcards from home. Another gallery held hand-printed translated stories from their first day in America.
